Events are cards in the main deck that further the player's adventure. Events can be either positive or negative, and often correspond to a hero's stats:
-Events that require strength checks are often to stop an incurring battle with a creature.
-Events that require speed often stop immediate damage being taken by a hero.
-Events that require Intelligence checks offer loot or coin.
-Events that involve magic generally cost a soul or allow for mystic companions to join party.
To separate event card designs from creatures and locations, the background is often black. I did this to add a sense of drama, make them feel as if they could be occuring at any location, and provide a visual distinction between card types.
