Wilda

The Protagonist of Space Friends is a former starfighter of her planet's galactic fleet. Called to action by a mysterious SOS from a former partner assumed dead, she goes AWOL in search of answers. Doing all the wrong things for the right reasons, this rebellious and hotheaded hero travels the universe making friends and fighting enemies.

For the protagonist, we wanted one of the few humanoid designs in the game to meet a standard of "main character" at first glance. From there we wanted to push the kind of alien attributes that make Space Friends characters unique. The initial design leaned more into the rebel starfighter angle of her character and her rebellious nature took on some punk features before she quickly shed off the more human attributes of her face. She was aged down a bit and given a more heroic pop with brighter colors and an iridescent flight suit. After dozens of takes at her costume design the coat was narrowed down to its final form and the edge of her flight suit reversed from black to white. The scarring on her face reflects blast wounds that reveal later to be the dominant blue part of her skin. (For more on her blaster design see props and weapons)
